  1. Protestants often use Matthew 6:7 to justify that the Lord Jesus condemned "vain repetitions" and that would mean the Rosary. But what was our Lord forbidding us to do in this verse? Let us look exactly at the verse and see. I will be using the Authorized King James Bible of Matthew 6:7 and here's what it says:

Matthew 6:7 (King James Version), "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."

The Lord Jesus condemned vain repetitions, that is, prayers that are not genuine or taken from the heart. The repetition doesn't matter, but how sincere we are to God. Otherwise, we are only paying Him lip service like these people whom He condemned in Mark 7:6-7 and here's what it says:

Mark 7:6-7 (King James Version), "He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
